Hostages Taken in Delaware Prison

Four corrections employees were taken hostage today at a Delaware prison as reported by the Delaware state police.
A fifth employee was released four hours after the hostage situation started at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Delaware. Richard Bratz, a state police spokesman, stated the incident started around 10:32 a.m. A corrections officer had radioed for immediate assistance from inside a building that houses more than 100 inmates. The facility was placed under lockdown.
Bratz, stated,”We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of everyone involved and using all of our available resources.”
The prison was built in 1971. The facility has approximately 2,500 minimum-, medium-, and maximum-security inmates, including death row inmates.
