Did Trump, Putin, and Assad–Hypothetically?
Hypothetically, if Putin interfered with our 2016 election, to help candidate Trump, did Trump, Putin, and Assad orchestrate last week’s events.
The Assad family are extraordinary survivors. Bashar Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad ruled Syria for over four decades. His brutal reign was exemplified by the Syrian’s army destruction of the Syrian city, Hama, and the massacre of its civilians in 1972. For the last six years, his son, Bashar Assad has engaged in a brutal civil war to maintain the Assad’s control of Syria.
On March 30th, Rex Tillerson, the Secretary of State, while in Turkey, stated that “longer-term status of President Assad will be decided by the Syrian people.” This statement by Tillerson indicated that United States was not interested in participating in the removal of Assad from the Syria equation.
Yet, after this welcome news for Assad, four days later, Assad attacks Syrian civilians with chemical weapons. Does it make any sense–for an astute survivor like Bashar Assad to anger the United States, after the Syrian policy announced by Tillerson, unless there was another ongoing agenda.
Since the Trump inauguration, the media and many Americans have focused on Russia’s interference with our 2016 election and the alleged ties between Trump, Trump’s advisers–supporters and Putin’s Russia.
Hypothetically, a crafty former KGB operative, like Putin, could come up with a plan in which a pinprick attack against one Syrian airfield by Trump would show Americans that Trump is not tied to or allied with Putin and Russia.
Hypothetically, there would have to be a new reason for Trump to take action in Syria–it cannot be Assad’s usual cruelty against the Syrian civilians. What if, Putin had Assad launch a chemical attack, so that Trump would have a new reason to flex his anti- Putin Russian muscles for America and the world.
Hypothetically, this strategy would deflect, deflect, and deflect public opinion from any ongoing investigation of Trump and Putin.
Just saying hypothetically.
Our articles have always focused on current issues involving our broken system of justice, but last week’s events were too hypothetical to ignore.
