Oak Park Heights Correctional Facility

MCF-Oak Park Heights opened in 1982. The facility contains a modern medical infirmary designed to handle 24-hour care for all adult males’ offenders in need of services from the Transitional Care Unit (TCU). Oak Park Heights also houses the Mental Health Unit (MHU) designed to assist all adult male offenders who have severe mental health needs. Offenders at Oak Park Heights participate in highly structured programming including industry, education, mentorship programming, and institutional janitorial services. Up to 473 offenders can be incarcerated here. Oak Park Heights is the highest custody level in the Minnesota DOC system. However, the majority of offenders housed here are maximum and close custody. Some of the offenders often need a higher level of security.
