Lowell Correctional Institution is a women's prison in unincorporated Marion County, Florida, north of Ocala, in the unincorporated area of Lowell. A part of the Florida Department of Corrections, it serves as the primary prison for women in the state. This facility houses female adult and youthful offenders ages 14 - 24 with youthful inmates provided enhanced program services in the Extended Day Program.

Hi Joan, Please note the following information about visitation and the visitation application. Inmate Visitation The Department of Corrections encourages visitation between inmates and their loved ones. We recognize the importance of the continuation of family relationships during incarceration. Visitor applications will not be distributed at the reception centers. Inmates will be given up to fifteen copies once they reach their permanent location. I was planning on visiting inmate number U34442 on the 10th and 11th, sent her a letter saying so, however, I have to wait until the 17th & 18th to do so. I have been ill for 2 months now and went to hospital, bloodwork found white blood cell count, and platlet count low, so much so that I have to get tests done. Please note the following regarding dress requirements for visitation:
It’s always a good idea to dress conservatively. The following is a list of some of the clothing deemed inappropriate: Tank tops, skin tight or spandex clothing, shorts that are more than 3 inches above the knee, skirts, fish net style clothing, clothing with offensive language/pictures, military style camouflage clothing to include jungle (green), urban (grey or black), and desert (tan or brown), and see thru clothing.
