Prisonpath.com posted on February 20th an article about the naming of a college stadium after a notorious private prison company. The article was titled, “What Does This Say About the United States”. Beyond Bars has prepared a petition to stop this absurdity:

By Warren–You’re not going to like my answer but…. It says that this is a capitalistic country and the college has the right to sale ad space (ad name space) to whom, or in this case what ever they choose. It also says that the United States isn’t focused on the real problem! For me, this is minutia at the bottom of the bucket. Thank you for your comments Warren. There are none spoken any better and to the point. I work with men in and coming out of prison by working with reentry solutions. The one comment you made that I would like to highlight is educating communities, employers and society in general. Most of them have only one way to look at those being released and that is the stereotype of “once a felon always a felon” as you mentioned. People do change.
