Prison Description

The Dallas County Youth Village is a non-secure residential placement in southern Dallas County for young men ages 10 to 17. There are two separate programs for young men placed at the Youth Village. Typically, young men ages 13 to 17 are placed by the juvenile court at Youth Village if they are unsuccessful in other Dallas County Juvenile Department programs. It takes a young man six months to complete the Youth Village program. While at Youth Village, young men grow through counseling and an engaging school environment as well as develop the positive social skills that give them tools for success. Starting in late 2015, the Dallas County Youth Village added a new program called the Youthful Offenders Program for our youngest offenders--ages 10 to 13 that are charged with a sexual offense and in need of residential treatment. These young men receive specialized treatment for sexual behavior problems in a highly structured and supportive environment. The Dallas County Juvenile Department understands that other Texas jurisdictions need similar services for young male offenders with sexual behavior problems. The Dallas County Juvenile Department will accept post-adjudicated youth under the supervision of other Texas counties to receive treatment for their sexual behavior problem. Counties may find this sample contract helpful as they pursue the option to send clients to the Dallas County Youth Village, Youthful Offenders Program.
