The Hill Detention Center is located adjacent to the administrative offices of the Nashville Sheriff. This facility is the intake point for all arrestees in Davidson County. Inmates who remain in custody after 48 hours are classified for housing and custody levels. Inmates housed at the Hill Detention Center are Pre-trial males with custody levels of maximum, medium and special needs (medical, mental health). Female arrestees are booked and transferred to the Metro Detention Facility. The HDC has a housing capacity of 356, but is also divided into two sections. HD1 is comprised of dormitory style cells ranging from 26 to 50 man units. HD2 is considered as the Booking Unit. A Master Control which is located in the front of the building controls all doors into and out of the facility as well as monitors all movement within the facility. Food Services, Medical and Commissary are contracted by the Metro Government for this facility. The HDC received initial ACA Accreditation May 3, 2002.
