The Thomas County Detention Facility is a major function of the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office. Currently, it operates with an annual budget of $ 1.3 million dollars. There are thirty two full-time officers operating the facility twenty-four hours a day. The daily average inmate population is 170 inmates. Currently, the facility can house a maximum of 270 prisoners. However, additional bunks can be added to accommodate 480 prisoners before any new construction would be necessary.
