Detention Facility Profile By the numbers: Two hundred employees manage an average daily inmate population of approximately 500 inmates. Regularly visited by corrections officials from around the world, the facility is the first urban high-rise jail run under direct supervision within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Sheriff’s Office factored the safety and security of the staff, public and inmates into the design and construction of the facility.
