Prison Description

Middlesex County has a long history of national leadership in jail operations. In 1917, when the jail opened in New Brunswick, Middlesex pioneered a number of architectural innovation. The Middlesex County Department of Corrections recognizes the importance of visitation in making a person’s period of incarceration less difficult. For other persons who have families, visiting privileges allow for the maintenance of family ties that may otherwise be lost. We also feel that a person’s motivation to improve their condition is affected in a positive way when he or she has regular visits from family. These Visiting Rules and Regulations are necessary when working with a large number of people and having a limited amount of space, not to mention security concerns. Our visiting program has been set up to be fair to all persons incarcerated. Although we feel visitation is an important element in the correctional process, your visiting privileges may be revoked for violating our rules and regulations. Following the links below, please read the rules outlined from the handbook carefully to avoid any unnecessary delay or interruption of your visiting privilege
