Due to the August 2016 flooding in South Louisiana, Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW) is undergoing repairs and restoration. During the renovation, the offenders usually housed at LCIW are being incarcerated in one of three facilities, the former Jetson Center for Youth, Louisiana State Penitentiary, and Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. It is the only female correctional facility of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is immediately west of LCIW. LCIW includes the state's female death row.

What is the release procedure at lciw? do you just show up? I called but those people are so rude. She didn’t want to answer any of my questions.
Hi M,
I would recommend contacting the prison chaplain for assistance.
If an inmate is transported to LCIW from a parish jail, what items can they take with them?
I want to know how inmates are selected for re entry program. My inmates release date is in Jan 2015 and is attending two classes now, with credits for these and other things, out date would be in Oct 2014, if she is not in reentrys next class these credits wont even apply. Another inmate that came in 3 weeks ago and a release date of June 2015 was called out to attend upcoming class. We are very confused. How does this work?
how do i get an application to visit an inmate?
